With the focus on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) this week, data shows an encouraging increase in the number of women taking charge of their sexual health.
Siyabulela Mamkeli, mayoral committee member for health at the City of Cape Town’s the city’s health directorate, says they have noticed an increase in the number of female condoms distributed via its network of clinics and community outreach campaigns.
Mamkeli states that, “The figures are encouraging because this means that more women are becoming aware of the availability of female condoms and being able to take control of their sexual well-being.”
