Group Training Will Help You and Your Organisation
INVITATION TO REGISTER FOR 2015 WORKING WITH GROUPS COURSE
Learning about the psychology and emotional aspects of groups helps groups to fulfil their tasks and objectives. Training in group work is not easy to access in South Africa. It is an under-utilised and under-trained practice. Ububele’s Working With Groups Course has been run for the past 10 years by an experienced faculty that developed the Group Analysis course for the South African context, based on the Institute for Group Analysis (IGA), London which recognises the course. Ububele sees this training as an important contribution to building capacity in the mental health field and other sites and is especially relevant in under-resourced communities.
For the past 10 years, Ububele has run transformative courses for people whose job entails being a group member or leader. The course is experiential, theoretical and practical. It is unique in that the course has seen South Africans from a variety of backgrounds, occupations and experiences engage with one another. Participants emerge with greater understanding, sensitivity, tolerance and insight into our complex national human landscape.
In addition to the curriculum, the 2015 course offers specialist sessions during each block for:
- Mental health workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, social auxiliary workers, psychiatric nurses and occupational therapists;
- Industrial and commercial personnel e.g. managers, team leaders and HR practitioners;
- Those working for Nonprofit organisations and/or Community-based Organisations or Government institutions;
- Educators – primary, secondary, life orientation, coaches, Department Heads, Principals;
- Faith-based leaders – lay and ordained.
Ububele’s introductory course in experiential group work involves 6 Friday-Sunday block trainings per year. 2015 block dates: 13-15 Feb; 17-19 Apr; 5-7 June; 24-6 July; 18-20 Sept; 6-8 Nov. After completing year 1, students have the option to attend year 2 and become fully trained and qualified in running support groups. 40 CPD points apply.
