USBAH: Advocacy Project Planning on HIV and AIDS

The Unit for Social Behaviour Studies and Health (USBAH) at the University of South Africa is conducting a course on Advocacy Project Planning on HIV and AIDS in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State.

Do you think we have done enough for people living with HIV and/or affected by HIV and AIDS in South Africa? What happened to our advocacy around the stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV? Do you want to make a difference in the field of HIV and AIDS but do not know where to start? Or have you been actively involved in advocacy on HIV and AIDS but would like to enhance your knowledge and skills on advocacy campaign planning and management? Then this course is for you!

Topics to be covered:

  • African understanding of the AIDS pandemic -challenges and trends
  • Understanding social behaviour aspects and theories of HIV and AIDS
  • Planning and executing an advocacy campaign on issues related to HIV and AIDS
  • Mobilise community and stakeholder participation
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation of advocacy campaign

What will you be ability to do with the course:

  • Plan your advocacy campaign with your stakeholder
  • Identify an issue for advocacy
  • Mobilise community involvement and participation
  • Enhance your knowledge and skills and advocacy around HIV and AIDS in Africa

Duration: Once off workshop for three days and/or six months distance
