University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business: MPhil Degree in Development Finance
The University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business, in partnership with the Africagrowth Institute, offers a unique MPhil Degree in Development Finance, which starts from 28 January 2012 in Cape Town.
The programme focuses on the use of innovative financial tools to enhance financial development in developing and emerging economies.
The continuing global financial crisis has exposed major weaknesses in our understanding of how the elements that drive global finance operate. Over several decades, training in finance has concentrated mainly on capital markets, corporate finance and investments at the secondary level. Little attention has, therefore, been paid to financial training that addresses issues impacting on development at the developmental level.
The MPhil in Development Finance covers a unique blend courses including microenterprise finance, international finance for development, public sector finance, sovereign debt management and financial risk management. The course is designed for middle to senior manager working in government, development agencies; financial services sector or have an interest in working in these sectors.
