Un[convention]al: A Playful Look at Social Innovation

Re.Think Leadership

Re.think Leadership is youth leadership programme which has been created so as to address the need for the development of young leaders within the greater Cape Town community (and South Africa as a whole).

The organisation has been formed through the collaborative efforts of a group of young adults, who have been working together in community based activities, both in South Africa and internationally, since 2001. Their previous work includes, but is not limited to, dialogue and interactive activities relating to issues of peace, violence, interfaith collaboration, gender, equality, racism, privilege and social responsibility.

Re.think Leadership is hosting ‘Un[convention]al - ‘A Playful Look at Social Innovation’, on 14 July 2012 in Stellenbosch.

Un[convention]al is a laboratory that exposes young people to creative and innovative ways in which people are leading and improving communities.

The event will take place over a full day, with sessions during which selected presenters will showcase exciting ideas, initiatives and inventions that have addressed some of the challenges facing South African communities.

What is un[convention]al?

Un[convention]al is an opportunity to see presentations by amazing social innovators and to interact with them. It is also a platform for you to meet learners from other schools who are excited and committed to creating positive change. Un[convention]al will be playful, inspiring, challenging and, most importantly, mad fun.

Who else will be coming?

The presenters represent a variety of amazingly un[convention]al movements and organisations.

There will be 50 adult delegates and 100 high school youth delegates.

The high school delegates must be in grades 10, 11 or 12. We hope you will apply to be a part of that group!
