Society of Midwives South Africa's 8th Annual Conference

The Society of Midwives South Africa is hosting the 8th Annual Congress of Midwives of South Africa from 2-5 December 2008 in Polokwane.

South Africa is faced with the challenge of increasing numbers of women who die needlessly due to pregnancy and child birth, the congress seeks to focus on strategies to introduce and/or improve in midwifery practice that will ensure improved maternal and child outcomes.

• Staffing norms for midwifery and neonatal units

• Status of midwifery in South Africa
