RNTC: Audio for Internet and ‘Live’ Radio
RNTC is a unique training institute for young and mid career journalists, programme-makers, print and online media professionals as well as media trainers and senior managers. RNTC provides short but life changing courses and also tailor-made training for media organisations.
Established in 1968 as a joint initiative of Radio Netherlands Worldwide and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RNTC has gained considerable expertise in the development of media and in the role media can play in society, especially in the developing world and in so called countries in transition.
RNTC is conducting a five-day course on Audio for Internet and ‘Live’ Radio from 6-10 August 2012 in the Netherlands.
Computers and the Internet have made it very simple to establish your own Internet radio station. Share your favourite music with your listeners, contribute to the public debate with a discussion programme, make your own campus radio! And so building up experience for a journalistic career. The course familiarises students with creating an Internet radio station using a personal home computer. It encompasses all the technical aspects required as well as audio production and presentation techniques, followed by feedback sessions in which the students and the lecturer will identify examples of good practice as well as points for improvement. Students will be expected to work both individually and in teams. They will be working towards pre-established deadlines for which effective time management and communication will be essential.
The course is aimed at international students with an interest in the use of the audio/radio medium to practice journalism online or on radio.
Upon completing the course, the participants will be familiar with:
- the basics of speaking on microphone and writing for the ear;
- generating, shaping and presenting a studio-based story for radio;
- interviewing and to preparing and moderating ‘live’ phone-in’s and discussions;
- the basics of how to record, edit, package and distribute audio via the internet.
Cost: €405 (includes course materials) or €605 for course materials and accommodation)
