Public Lecture: Looking Back, Looking Forward – Joburg WWSD Summit +10 / Rio +20 and Sustainability Pathways to a Low Carbon Economy
The University of Johannesburg (UJ), one of the largest, multi-campus, residential universities in South Africa, seeks to achieve the highest distinction in scholarship and research within the higher education context.
Members of the public are invited to attend a distinguished public lecture to be presented by Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer, executive director, Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, Berlin; and former executive director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The University of Johannesburg is hosting a public lecture under the theme ‘Looking Back, Looking Forward – Joburg WWSD Summit +10 / Rio +20 and Sustainability Pathways to a Low Carbon Economy’ on 23 February 2012 in Johannesburg.
This event is intended to facilitate dialogue on international and local experiences, lessons learned from the Earth Summit, Rio; the WSSD, Johannesburg; and COP17, Durban; prospects and progress on the transition to a low carbon economy. This event brings together policy makers, academia and members of civil society organisations.
