Pan-African Early Childhood Development Conference

The Centre for Early Childhood Development in collaboration with the HCI Foundation, Tsogo Sun Group and Southern Sun Hotels is hosting an Early Childhood Development Conference from 21-23 July in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Research has shown that currently in Africa only a small number of children aged between 0-6 years are recipients of quality ECD services. As ECD plays a vital role in providing children with a good start in life, it is imperative that more effective ECD programmes are put in place in order to meet the needs of communities, families and parents across the continent. This is enhanced if ECD stakeholders throughout Africa share their experiences and knowledge on how to advance early childhood development and commit to working in partnership with one another.

Some of the reasons why it is worthwhile to attend this conference:

To showcase methods in which we can advance ECD across the African continent
To meet with other ECD stakeholders
To obtain opportunities for constructive engagement which will enhance ECD programmes, improve service delivery, build capacity and advance early childhood development in Africa.
To understand the ECD sector in Africa and learn more about innovative ways to implement more effective ECD programmes

This conference directly targets ECD stakeholders including ECD non-profit organisations (NPOs), government officials dealing with ECD in their respective countries, donors as well as civil society members involved in ECD in Africa. However, the final beneficiaries are children aged 0-6 years from the African continent.

This conference takes into account the rapidly changing ECD environment in Africa and internationally. With this in mind, the conference welcomes those who want to share, discuss and learn more about the challenges and opportunities in ECD in Africa, and discover how we as a continent can use that information to advance ECD.
