Launch: 'The Independent Code' - Johannesburg

The Working Group consists of Chris Mkhize, Chief Executive Officer, Uthungulu Community Foundation; Shelagh Gastrow, Executive Director, The South African Institute of Advancement: Inyathelo; Colleen du Toit, Chief Executive Officer, Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa; Jimmy Gotyana, President, SANGOCO; and as legal adviser, Richard Rosenthal of Richard Rosenthal Attorneys.’

‘The Working Group is launching ‘The Independent Code’ on 25 July 2012 in Johannesburg.

‘The Independent Code’ is a code of good governance for the Non-profit Sector in South Africa developed through extensive consultation with the sector over the past two years.

The Independent Code documents the values and principles of good governance for the Non-profit sector and has been developed over a two year extensive consultative process and document review. During the drafting stages The Independent Code has been repeatedly lauded as being ‘responsive and reflective’ of the values and principles that the Non-profit sector is based on as well as addressing the realities in which organisations find themselves.
