The Graduate School of Public and Development Management at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits P&DM), in association with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicines (LSTM) and Medicines Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders (MSF), is conducting Certificates in Humanitarian Policy and Practice and Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance from 7 May to 18 June 2012 in Johannesburg.
This is a six-week intensive programme.
If you work international or regional agencies, NGOs, government or municipalities in humanitarian or development sectors then this innovative, multidisciplinary training programme in emergency relief and development is for you.
Wits P&DM will award a Certificate in Humanitarian Policy to students who successfully complete Weeks 1-3 (7-25 May 2012) and a Certificate in Humanitarian Practice for successful completion of Weeks 4-6 (28 May to 16 June 2012). Students completing the six-week course will be eligible to sit the examination for the professional Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance from LSTM on 18 June 2012.
The programme consists of core modules on key humanitarian and development issues plus a choice of specialist modules such as Public Health in Humanitarian Emergencies; Technical Support in Humanitarian Emergencies (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Logistics, etc); and possible modules in Disaster Management, Advocacy or Applied Policy, depending on demand.
Designed and taught by experts from leading NGOs, International Organisations and Academic Institutions.
