Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organisations Est, supported by key local and international humanitarian organisations such as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Est, United Nations, UAE Red Crescent, Organisation of the Islamic Conference and Dubai Cares, is hosting the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition from 4-6 April 2010 in Dubai.

Workshop Topics

• International humanitarian system: Origins and main principles: Discussions about the international humanitarian system Participants to understand  the core principles of humanitarian action, and the various types of humanitarian actors, and how they relate to each other
• Challenges to delivering humanitarian assistance: Participants understand the challenges facing international community – logistics/access/protection – to delivering fast and effective humanitarian relief
• Humanitarian reporting in an emergency context: Participants can understand the importance of humanitarian reporting, challenges of reporting, and ways of improved unbiased reporting
• Humanitarian response mechanisms – Cluster coordination: Participants understand the way in which the humanitarian community approaches humanitarian crises, both natural disasters and complex emergencies, Participants put the theory of humanitarian response into practice
• Humanitarian response mechanisms – Response tools and services: Participants gain an overview of the response tools and services available with the United Nations system and how they could benefit from these tools and services
• Humanitarian impact of climate change: Participants understand the catastrophic impact of climate change and challenges facing international humanitarian organisations
