Bowling for Columbine

Tuesday, June 16, 2009 - 09:57
The Ceasefire Campaign, a voluntary association of concerned South Africans campaigning to raise public awareness of the dangers of continued militarism in state and society, invites you to the screening of a documentary ‘Bowling for Columbine’, to commemorate the Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence, on 19 June 2009 in Johannesburg.

The film, written, produced and directed by Michael Moore, addresses the gun violence so prevalent in America and its title refers to the Columbine High School massacre that took place 10 years ago this year in the US when two students embarked upon a shooting spree at the school. Twelve students and a teacher died and 21 were injured. Three were injured trying to escape. The two students responsible for the massacre then committed suicide. The massacre provoked debate on the availability of firearms in the US and violence among the youth.

Pam Crowsley, Chair of Gun Free South Africa will introduce the film and give input on her personal loss through gun violence.
