5th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention
Tuesday, June 30, 2009 - 13:39
The International AIDS Society, in partnership with Dira Sengwe, a South African-based NGO, is hosting the 5th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention from 19-22 July 2009 in Cape Town.
The conference is the world’s largest open scientific conference on HIV/AIDS.
Held every two years, the conference attracts about 5 000 delegates from all over the world. It is a unique opportunity for the world’s leading scientists, clinicians, public health experts and community leaders to examine the latest developments in HIV-related research, and to explore how scientific advances can – in very practical ways – inform the global response to HIV/AIDS.
In an effort to make IAS 2009 socially responsible, the conference secretariat has taken measures to reduce the environmental impact of the conference, while supporting the local economy.
