The South African Monitoring & Evaluation Association (SAMEA) is pleased to announce that registration for the 7th Biennial SAMEA Conference is now open! This year, our conference will take place at Emperors Palace in Gauteng from the 23rd to 25th October 2019. Pre-conference workshops will be held between the 21st and 22nd October 2019.
The theme for this year’s conference is: “Shaping M&E for a Sustainable Future.” Rapid changes in the political, economic, social and environmental conditions affect the lives of millions of people on an unprecedented scale.
In this fast-changing world, governments, civil society, the private sector and citizens face great uncertainty. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) provides reliable evidence about the effectiveness of developmental programmes to help decision-makers navigate uncertainty and make better decisions.
If M&E as a discipline is to contribute to better development outcomes, then it must adapt and evolve. This year’s conference is an opportunity for all those who are interested in M&E to reflect on, discuss and decide on how to use M&E theories, methods and tools to deliver sustainable social, economic and environmental outcomes.
We have designed an exciting conference programme for M&E practitioners, evaluators, public sector officials, development practitioners, commissioners of evaluations, donor organisations and private sector institutions.
The conference’s six strands cover a wide range of issues relating to the value and importance of M&E in creating a sustainable future for all. Our mix of international, regional and local speakers are thought leaders in their field and are looking forward to sharing their experiences with our delegates.
The SAMEA Board extends a warm invitation to all stakeholders involved in M&E from the public, private and non-profit sector to register for the conference. Join us in October 2019 for discussions and debates that will help us shape future of M&E in South Africa and across the continent.
