Non-Government Organisations and Community Based Organisations are invited to participate in a learning programme to strengthen essential project management skills and effectively manage capacity building programmes and projects.
In the current climate, there is increased competition for grants. The onus is on donor funded organisations to demonstrate efficiency, effectiveness and value for money. This calls for strong project management skills from conception and proposals through to project close out and evaluation, via solid planning, implementation and monitoring. Given that most programmes involve capacity building of key stakeholders such as public-sector employees from those at the coalface to staff at Provincial and National level, community leadership, key populations, and NGO/CBO staff themselves to deliver programmes, Spiral Edge has developed a tailored learning programme, locating project management within this critical context. The programme includes distance learning of theory, two days of practical workshop learning, and follow-on mentoring to support implementation of learning. Facilitators and mentors are educationalists and certified project managers, with over 15 years’ experience of capacity building in the public and NGO sectors in Southern Africa.
Who should participate: CBO leadership and management, NGO programme managers, technical leads, project managers and co-ordinators, training managers, trainers, mentors, M&E management.
Pre-workshop learning: Project management theory with assessment (provided 4 weeks before the workshop).
Workshop day 1: Capacity building programme/project design, set up and planning.
Workshop day 2: Capacity building programme/project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and project close out.
Post workshop mentoring: Participants will be invited to engage in two small group on-line mentoring sessions to support implementation at two and six weeks after the workshop.

The investment to participate in this programme is ZAR4950 or USD350 per person. Discounts of 10% will be given to organisations for each additional participant registered, up to a maximum of four total participants.
