Saturday 04 March is International Open Data Day and Codebridge is hosting an online challenge themed “Know Your Hood”, to get to know more about your community using simple online tools.
Once a year the global open data community dedicates a day to spreading the love around open data in the form of International Open Data Day.
In South Africa, Codebridge is hosting an online challenge themed #KnowYourHood, in which communities dig through data to find out information about their community, using simple to use tools.
The online challenge is open to everyone, and you can sign up as an individual or host an event in your community. As community engagement - with government and each other - is integral to building a better community and solving social issues, we would like to have the event hosted in as many communities as possible.
All you need to do is source a venue with WI-FI, register your event on our website, and we'll list your event and send you a Host Pack with invitations and posters to market your challenge, links to the online tools so you can play around beforehand, as well instructions on how to structure the day.
Also note: while the challenge is open from 9am - 5pm, the running time to complete the challenge is TWO Hours, and you can choose whatever time between 9-5 to host this, but please indicate what time your event will take place on the form.
Please use 'Open Data Day 2017' as the subject line so we don't miss your email.
Oh, and did we mention there are two R2000 prizes up for grabs for the winning persons and/or teams?
So come on, sign up now to #KnowYourHood and win.
