ORT SA takes pleasure in inviting Foundation and Intermediate Phase language teachers and specialists to a MamaCa Reading Project Workshop.
The workshop will introduce an innovative and exciting new tool in the form of a specially designed “literacy wheel”, which emphasizes cognitive skills and comprehension in reading. This wheel was created by Dr. Lydia Abel, Director ORT SA Cape.
This promises to change the teaching of languages in your classroom to encompass all the thinking strategies that good readers use to understand text and offers learners multiple opportunities to practice.
Monday 6 March or Tuesday 7 March 2017
10h00 to 13h00 or 14h00 to 17h00

The MamaCa Reading Project was established by the Schwab, Lyons and Frank Families to perpetuate the memory of Carol Schwab, beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Carol taught primary school children for over 45 years. She was passionate about nurturing her students’ imaginations and enquiring minds
through the medium of books.
The object of the MamaCa Reading Project is to provide training to teachers to ensure that children read with understanding, meaning and critical thinking.
