Enterprises University of Pretoria

The University of Pretoria established two campus entities in 2000 following a strategic decision to develop a formal structure to organise its interaction with the private sector and government. These two entities – Business Enterprises at University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd and Continuing Education at University of Pretoria Trust – ensured that the University’s external research and continuing education activities could be managed from a business foundation to generate additional income for the University and its personnel. Enterprises at University of Pretoria Trust was formally founded in 2008, and became operational as the official corporate holding entity for the Group.

In January 2016, the three companies were consolidated into one company – Enterprises University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd – with the University of Pretoria as the sole beneficiary.
 
The Human Resource, Communication and Scope Management in Projects short course presents you with a unique experience in applying three of the ten Project Management Body of Knowledge – PMBOK® knowledge areas - Human Resource Management, Communication Management and Scope Management - directly to the built environment, augmenting them with extensive coverage of labour law, conflict management, negotiations, project management processes, lifecycle of a project, and identifying work responsibilities and roles on projects.
 
This course will earn you credit towards the Comprehensive Project Management Programme (CPMP) for Built Environment Practitioners.
 
Learning Outcomes:
 
After successfully completing the course, you will be able to apply three PMBOK® knowledge areas, namely Human Resource Management, Communication Management and Scope Management, in project implementation and planning.

  • The Nature of Projects and Project Management;
  • Introduction to Project Management;
  • Project Lifecycles and Phases;
  • Project Management Processes;
  • Project Scope Management;
  • Negotiation on Projects;
  • Structuring the Organisation for Project Work;
  • Identifying Work, Responsibilities and Roles;
  • Project Human Resource Management;
  • Conflict Management;
  • Aspects of Labour Law for the Project Manager;
  • Project Communication Management; and
  • Portfolio and Program Management.

Participants are required to bring their own laptop to the contact sessions. (Laptops can also be rented at an additional cost.)
 
Entry Requirements:
 
Prospective delegates should at least have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification and/or relevant work experience in the built environment.
