Bala Appointed UNAIDS Ambassador

Gospel and RnB musician, Loyiso Bala, has been appointed as the national Goodwill Ambassador for the joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).
 
UNAIDS coordinator, Catherine Sozi, says that Bala would use the position to speak out about the stigma and discrimination suffered by HIV-infected people and on gender inequality and gender-based violence.
 

Unemployment Talks Dominate One Young World Summit

Youth unemployment, entrepreneurship and HIV/AIDs dominated discussions at the One Young World conference which took place from the 2-5 October 2013 in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Barclays Bank chief executive officer Anthony Jenkins, says the world faces a lot of challenges and that businesses and politicians should come up with best practices to help society.  Jenkins added … “the youth will have to be brave and tackle unemployment, but responsibility cannot only be left to them.”

James House: Managing Director

James House was established in 1986 in Hout Bay, Cape Town, and has served mostly as a place of safety for the vulnerable children of Hout Bay. Over time, the organisation developed capacities and responses in keeping with the transformation of the child and youth care sector, and with broader imperatives within the community it served – particularly the impact of HIV/AIDS on families. The result has been the development of four programs that encompass a broad range of services at the early intervention, prevention and statutory levels.
