One in three women around the world experience violence in their lifetime, often in the hands of someone they know, love and trust. Of all women who were victims of homicide globally in 2012, almost half were killed by intimate partners or family members.
The Movement is an organisation that tackles socioeconomic inequality and women abuse in South Africa. The organisation aims to increase the participation of women in sustainable economic activities, engage men in the fight against gender based violence and facilitate access to basic health and well-being services for disadvantaged women.
The Movement seeks to appoint a volunteer Gender Specialist to its Board of Advisors, based in Johannesburg.
