The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) says it wants the deal between South African Airways (SAA) and boutique financier BnP Capital to be cancelled, not to be put on ice.
This comes after SAA was placed on extended terms by OUTA’s lawyers to provide an undertaking not to continue with the BnP arrangement, failing which legal action would ensue.

Electronic payments company Net1 UEPS Technologies has more time to continue carrying out a social grant tender amid a Constitutional Court decision to suspend a bidding deadline.
In April last year, the Constitutional Court ordered that the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) re-issue the country’s R10 billion grant tender, which was awarded to Net1 division Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) in 2012.

According to an article by Asha Speckman, it could not get much worse for Net1 UEPS Technologies, which faces the wrath of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) over unlawful charges for airtime and loans that the service provider has been deducting from the monthly payout to beneficiaries under its R10 billion social grant tender.
Net1 shares went into free-fall following the ruling, dropping 28 percent to R70 during intraday trade on the JSE, before recouping some of the losses to end the session down 12.76 percent at R85.50.

The Constitutional Court ruled the awarding of the multibillion rand social grants administration contract to Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) is invalid.
AllPay Consolidated Investment Holdings took the matter to the country's highest court after it lost the tender due to alleged irregularities to CPS.
The tender, worth 10 billion rand, for the administration of social grants, was awarded by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA).

Losing bidder, AllPay, has turned to the Constitutional Court in yet another attempt to have the multibillion-rand social service grant tender process declared invalid.
AllPay lost the R10 billion tender for the payment of social security grants to Cash Paymaster Services.
The company is appealing the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) judgment passed in March this year, which found that the tender process followed by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in awarding the contract to Cash Paymaster Services was ‘valid and legal’.

The Department of Social Development has welcomed a court ruling confirming the validity of a tender given to Cash Paymaster for issuing social grants.
In a press statement, Minister Bathabile Dlamini, points out that, "It has been a long journey through which several cabinet ministers and senior government officials were branded corrupt."
Dlamini, who is delighted that, "Justice has been served," argues that CPS was awarded the tender purely on the basis of a good payment solution which was to curb abuse, fraud, and corruption while saving money for government.

Ten years and R3 billion later, and Gauteng Online, the biggest school computer project in the country, has effectively been cancelled - with the Gauteng government owning no equipment to show for it.
This month, MEC for Finance, Mandla Nkomfe, announced that the project, which is under what he calls the ‘strategic review’, was cancelled and the project will be incorporated into a Gauteng Broadband Network, whose full scope will be announced in two weeks’ time.
