  • SANGOTeCH - Price Increases and New ICT Products

SANGOTeCH, an initiative of SANGONeT and TechSoup Global, aims to assist NGOs by providing software and hardware for very low or discounted fees in conjunction with ICT donor partners. SANGOTeCH presents South African NGOs with an opportunity to access software and other ICT solutions at discounts of more than 90% of the retail value.

Current donor partners include Microsoft, Cisco, Mailshell, Bytes of Learning and recently ICWFD.

    # Microsoft Price Increases

We have received notice from Microsoft that prices on many of its popular software offerings will be increased over the next few months. SANGOTeCH admin fees are based on these prices and will increase accordingly.

We therefore recommend that you place your requests for Microsoft products by 30 June 2010 to benefit from current prices.

f you are considering requesting Windows 7 or Vista, be sure to use the special extra donation request Microsoft offered along with its launch of Windows 7, before the 30 June 2010 deadline. The special extra donation request allows eligible organisations to place a request for Windows 7 or Windows Vista Upgrades without impacting that organisation's annual request cycle.

If you are waiting for the launch of Microsoft Office 2010 (expected at SANGOTeCH in mid-June) to place your annual Microsoft donation request, you may want to consider requesting Office Pro 2007, and using Microsoft's Software Assurance Programme to upgrade to Office 2010.

    # New e-Learning Partner

SANGOTeCH is pleased to announce the introduction of a new donor partner. The International Commission on Workforce Development (ICWFD) offers discounts on its e-Skills360° computer-based courses in information technology and professional development.

The courses are available to non-profit organisations and public libraries. Each qualifying organisation may request an unlimited number of discounted courses in blocks of 10. The 10 PIN codes the organisation receives in each block allow the same person to take different courses or different people to take the same course.

Staff and volunteers have access to more than 500 courses that provide practical skills that are in demand in today's global knowledge-based economy and also have the potential to enhance the organisation's effectiveness in carrying out its mission. In addition, organisations whose mission includes workforce development, job skills training, worker retraining and youth empowerment may make courses available to the intended beneficiaries of their programmes, and libraries may make them available to their patrons.
