Women Use Gardening to Fight Malnutrition in Their Village

It is an initiative established by a group of women who met when they became members of a support group that aims to deal with issues of health, HIV and AIDS and other social related matters.

After meeting regularly, they together saw a need to establish a food garden that has now turned to be a growing project that helps feed almost all those in need in the local community.

Friends in Ireland: Volunteer ECD Field Officer

Friends in Ireland (FII), is an Irish non-governmental organisation (NGO) and South African Trust working in the Eastern Cape (EC) and KwaZulu Natal (KZN) provinces of South Africa assisting communities care and support Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) through Community-Development structures. With offices in Kokstad (KZN), FII have established seven community-based organisations (CBO) which operate 10 projects (three in the Maluti area bordering on Lesotho, two in Bizana and one in each of Lusikisiki, Flagstaff and Kokstad).

Friends in Ireland: Child and Youth Care Worker

Friends in Ireland (FII) is an NGO that works to assist communities to care and support orphans and vulnerable children through community development structures. With offices in Kokstad (KZN), FII have established seven Community Based Organisations (CBO) which operate 10 projects (three in the Maluti area bordering on Lesotho, two in Bizana and one in each of Lusikisiki, Flagstaff and Kokstad). At these centres FII supports four Early Childhood Development Facilities and eight Drop-In Centres.

Association for Water and Rural Development: Intern - RESILIM-Olifants Programme

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), in partnership with 32 environment / biodiversity organisations has embarked on a major skills development and job creation pilot programme, Groen Sebenza, a Jobs Fund Partnership Project. Groen Sebenza is aimed at developing priority skills in the biodiversity sector to create sustainable job opportunities for 800 unemployed graduates and matriculants.
