Mokonyane Urges Rand Water to Communicate Better

Water and sanitation minister, Nomvula Mokonyane's office urges Rand Water to work closer and to communicate better with communities regarding water supply interruptions and other challenges.

Speaking at a meeting with the board, Mokonyane reminds the board that “[as a member]… you have a responsibility towards the communities you serve."

The board had to close the gap between their commitment to communities and what was eventually delivered, it also had to look at their current way of doing things, and how it could possibly be changed for positive results.

SmartStart: Communications Officer

SmartStart is a social franchise which aims to expand access to quality, affordable early learning opportunities for young children in South Africa. Within 10 years, the goal is to reach one million 3 and 4 year old children per year.

The Eastern Cape Communication Forum (ECCF) is a small nonprofit organisation established in 2008 to support the small independent media sector in the Eastern Cape. The organisation is strengthening the sector through different projects and training interventions. It also provides on-going advisory services to local media.

The ECCF seeks to appoint a Coordinator, based in Grahamstown.

Tech Partnership Means pMailer Free to NGOs

Prefix Technologies will make its industry-leading bulk email communication software, pMailer, available to South African NGOs via SANGOTeCH, a technology donation and discount portal created by TechSoup Global and the Southern African NGO Network (SANGONeT).

Prefix Technologies managing director, Walter Penfold, points out that by participating in the SANGOTeCH programme, the company aims to give NGOs a tool that will help them overcome serious communication challenges faced by many of these cash-strapped organisations.
