​Africa Month Launched in Maropeng

Arts and Culture Minister, Nathi Mthethwa, along with the African Union (AU), will launch the beginning of Africa Month celebrations at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in Maropeng.
 
This year's Africa Month will be celebrated under the theme: Building a Better Africa and a Better World: For Peace and Friendship.
 
Mthethwa will pay tribute to the continent for supporting the work of the African World Heritage Fund since its inception a decade ago.
 

Africa Day: Breaking Down Borders

As we celebrate Africa Day on 25 May, among the multicultural events and inter-African festivities, it's a good time to also remember that we should to take our pan-African sentiments to heart all year round. There have once again been reports of increasing tensions directed at South Africa's large migrant communities. It was three years ago that xenophobic attacks shook South Africa - this time we need to catch the problem before it gets worse.
