CSOs Release Study on Farm Evictions

Civil society organisations (CSOs) have released the findings of a national evictions survey, which reveals that 37% of people evicted from farms have no formal education, and that 76% have not gone beyond primary school, leaving them functionally illiterate and vulnerable to illegal evictions.

New Website Supports Agriculture & Rural Development

The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has launched a unique interactive web-based platform focusing on the role that information communication technologies (ICTs) play in supporting agriculture and rural development.

The online platform will enable users to exchange opinions, experiences, good practices and resources related to e-agriculture, and to ensure that the knowledge created is effectively shared and used worldwide.

WFP and NGOs Increase Zimbabwe’s Food Distribution Programme

The UN World Food Programme (WFP), with the aid of local and international NGOs, is expanding its feeding programme into Zimbabwe. 

WFP Spokesperson for Southern Africa, Richard Lee, explains that, “We are working with 14 local and international NGOs to distribute the food.” The NGOs note that the number of starving Zimbabweans that require food aid is closer to 4.1 million, or a third of the population of 14 million.
