Ses'khona March in Solidarity With Zuma

Ses'khona People's Rights Movement says people must recognise that Jacob Zuma is not only the African National Congress (ANC) leader but also the country's President and must be given due respect.

Thousands of people from the Ses'khona People's Rights Movement gathered Keizersgracht Street in the Cape Town central business district CBD to stand in solidarity with the President Zuma.

This comes after Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has promised to disrupt Zuma's speech once more if he does not tell the nation why he fired Nhlanhla Nene as finance minister.

Communities Challenge the Restitution of Land Rights Act

Civil Society will head to the Constitutional Court in Braamfontein to challenge the Restitution of Land Rights Amendment Act.

Former Director of Land Access Movement of South Africa (LAMOSA), Constance Mogale, explains that the organisation’s disapproval of the Act comes as 8 000 claims that are still not finalised.

50 communities will hold a night vigil at the Constitutional Court to voice their disapproval of the timing of the new process.

The Act re-opened the land restitution process for another five years.

Nonprofits and Politics

The role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in world and country politics has always been vibrant and widespread and has grown in importance since the 1990’s. Many NGOs through the years have fought for transparent political processes and political accountability, and developing a democratic culture among citizens. It seems to have become even more important in the past few years.

Corporate Governance in South Africa: Weak Links that Allow Fraud and Corruption to be Rampant

One has now lost count of the number of fraud and corruption incidents that get reported in the media - almost daily.  Most would agree that this indicates our corporate governance is collapsing, has completely collapsed or that it needs some serious re-vamp. The fact that fraud and corruption incidents do get reported, confirms that corporate governance still works – but mainly on the detective side.
