  • AfriForum Criticises ANC Over Rector Appointment

    AfriForum has accused the ANC in the Free State of forcing the University of the Free State (UFS) into appointing a party loyalist as new Rector.

    AfriForum has accused the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State of forcing the University of the Free State (UFS) into appointing a party loyalist as new Rector.

    AfriForum CEO, Kallie Kriel, has also criticised the disapproval voiced by the ANC spokesperson in that province, Teboho Sikisi, about the shortlist of five candidates and his demand that the so-called "progressive black academic" should be appointed.

  • E-Waste in South Africa

    Dumped e-Waste

    In a bid to tackle the problem of electronic-waste (e-waste) in South Africa, the e-Waste Association of South Africa (eWASA) hosted a one-day conference on 7 November 2008 in Johannesburg.

    The conference was aimed at providing a platform to discuss the successes and lessons learnt while implementing electronic waste (e-waste) management systems. It also served as an opportunity for the project team to report on progress made thus far.

    To celebrate an exciting year of continuing existing pilot projects starting new initiatives eWASA is hosting an e-Waste Conference on 7 November 2008. It will be a forum to discuss successes and lessons learnt, while implementing e-waste management systems and serve as an opportunity for the project team to report on progress made during the year.     the way forward for eWASA and its partners.
