What this Intersections stuff about?

Okay, another gathering, another talk shop, whatever you want to call it! Now they come up with this name too – intersections. What is it all about? Hmmm… (oh, and did I mention, it is in Pietermaritzburg of all places – now I’m in a village with a name my spell check cant recognise! Okay, it’s a city).

I digress. Intersections. Could it be about an intersection on a journey? There would normally be traffic lights (or robots if you insist) at this intersection. Green, orange (or amber for the purists) and red (if no one took the cables that connect the lights to the power). But all I see at this one is green. More green than you can imagine. But again, let’s get beyond the green for now. Let us pretend the intersection stuff is not that different from being at a traffic light. Perhaps its about an event that is a sort of ‘stop, think and go’ moment. Could it be that we  can use this time as more than a talk shop? Could we use it as a moment (or more) to slow down while the light is orange, think about about what we do while the light is red, and hit the pedal again as we see green, having reflected on our work during that brief moment of ‘red’?.... Do we need moments at intersections? Yes! It’s the time we look left and right (and left again for the astute). It’s a time when we look around beyond the left and right. When we consider our route ahead before we hit the pedal again. It’s a place where we may ‘catch up with ourselves’ before the traffic  gets hectic again as we join the highway (or the rat race).

So, I guess, my few moments here in the city that even my spell check does not know could be more than a talk shop or another few nights in a faux ethnic B&B with too few TV channels and not enough decaf coffee sachets (and even the odd hair from the previous guest left ther ealmost intentionally, waiting perfectly in the re-enamelled bath,  as a reminder that this is not my space). It could be a few moments at an intersection where I decide how long the light stays on orange, red or green. Where I consider left and right (okay, and left again), where I decide if I should turn around or keep heading forward, where I decide if its time to pull over and park while I rethink my journey (and my destination).   Or it could just be one hell of a party in Pietermaritzburg! (hmmm, is that possible?). Tell you later (or maybe not).
