SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA- when will we say enough is enough?

Comments

Africa has huge potential but the way its assets are managed is the key problem.
The Sub-Saharan region is one of the wealthiest in the world natural resources wise. But what should be a blessing appears to be the source of its curses.

There is a serious leadership crisis in the region. Head of states and those in positions of responsibility seem moved by selfish interests then the wellbeing of those who elected them. Doing politic or being a minister as become a way to get richer. Therefore, it is not surprising that we have State failure and social pandemics.

What is needed is accountability. Real patriotism through the involvement of all citizens especially youth - is a must in order to hold those in power to respect public goods and work for the prosperity of all.
For this cause, new media and internet can really help Africans to empower social activism.

We must revitalise the State so that education is provided and people will acknowledge their responsibility toward HIV-AIDS. Only then a social vaccine can be found because right people will be at right places.
This starts with one’s objective vote and not that racially or culturally motivated.

I think Africa needs more than a vaccine to cure its countless problems: AIDS, poor leadership and poverty ( to name but a few).Africans need to undergo a serious cultural transformation, as africans we need to revamp our culture-  morals and our dentition of good and bad. Sadly that cannot be done as a collective like in creating of a United States of Africa- the change needed in Africa needs individuals to change- as they say change begins with you- with the hope that if  individuals choose to change they change can transform a society. If we think about it; all the ills that are upon Africa come from individual choices.

It breaks my heart as an African to see continual statistics of our continent always taking the lead in poverty, HIV/AIDS and political problems. Are all these things beyond our control? Africans, do we care enough to know about issues affecting us? Is there a possibilty of just coming up with a social vaccine to all these? Sometimes I think a large part of our people just don't care. If we did, Why is HIV still with us yet we know the biology, the transmission and the preventive strategies. I am being discouraged. CAN SOMEBODY SAY SOMETHING PLEASE.
