Sangonet Visits Durban
Today I attended the Sangonet presentation at Diakonia Centre (Durban). It was so great to meet all the people who make this all happen. I met the people who have helped the trust I direct, with the latest software at incredibly affordable prices. This is something invaluable to myself, and so many other under resourced NPO's. I also me the people, who when I have an issue, allow me to blog, publish my opinions, and are also available to me, when I need a sound opinion, on an issue, I am dealing with, in my capacity as Director. We were also told about the new Guide Star System, which is going to be introduced here, and which is going to be an amazing resource for the NGO Community.
In the NGO Sector we have a lot of challenges to deal with. I want to thank Sangonet for their incredible work to help us function, at the highest possible level. They are making a real and significant contribution, and I know that myself and the trust I am Director of, would be no where near where we are, were it not for their ongoing support and assistance. It was an enormous pleasure to enguage with them in person, and I hope that this is the first of many workshops, that they will hold in Durban.

Umcebo Trust World Record Bead Tree Initiative.
The Umcebo Trust is putting their initiative to build the worlds tallest beaded tree, into top gear. We want to build a 4m high stainless steel and glass bead tree, which will have 10 000 beaded leaves. The final tree will also be studded with LED lighting. It will eventually weigh ten tons, and we hope that it will tour to events like Design Indaba, Chelsea Flower Show etc, before finding a permanent home in a public space, approved by its sponsor. We will then submit our portfolio of evidence to the Guinness World Record Authorities TM, for their granting it a certification, as the worlds largest beaded sculpture.
We have prepared an animation for this project, and we are currently busy with artists impressions , and engineering drawings and approval. These together with budgets are being forwarded to potential funders, and we hope to soon sign MOU's and start construction of this icon piece of beadwork.
We will be keeping you posted, but in the meantime urge you to visit the following links to view the animation, go to You Tube and type in Umcebo. We will also be uploading the animation to our site at www.umcebotrust.co.za which is currently having a revamp.
We thank you as always for your support and encouragement in this venture.
Regards
Robin.
