FPD Technical Assistance Cluster introduces the Community Forward Programme partners
The Community Forward Programme is a comprehensive community-based HIV prevention, counselling and testing programme for reducing HIV incidence. The strategic goal of the programme is to expand and strengthen high quality community-based HIV Counselling and Testing (CBCT) models supported with effective and sustainable linkage and referral systems with an aim to increase the knowledge of HIV status, as well as access to appropriate and effective HIV and TB prevention, care and treatment services in high incident communities and key populations in South Africa. FPD has partnered with other organisations to ensure the success of the programme;

In South Africa, fhi360 works to improve reproductive health, increase family planning options, help prevent the spread of HIV, and promote educational opportunities for South African youth. Their projects support the Government of South Africa in key human development priorities, including implementing HIV/AIDS interventions, preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV, increasing access to reproductive health services, improving nutrition, building capacity among local organisations and government entities, developing policies and guidelines that promote health and well-being, and expanding access to education. Humana People to People in South Africa (HPP-SA)
HPPA-SA is a registered nonprofit company (1995/004741/08) and a nonprofit organisation (NPO 005-055). HPP-SA has been in South Africa since 1995. In South Africa HPP-SA has reached more than five million people. HPP-SA currently works in five provinces; Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape. The organisation responds to the socio-economic needs of underprivileged South Africans through various projects. They will be implementing the TCE programme on the CBCT programme.
Total Control of the Epidemics (TCE): TCE is a systematic community mobilisation programme to stop HIV and AIDS and TB and supporting people who are affected. It targets communities with door-to-door campaigns, raising awareness, counselling people, making referrals, distributing condoms, promoting male medical circumcision (MMC), encouraging pregnant women to attend prevention of mother to child transmission programmes (PMTCT), home based testing and collaborating with local health structures to provide services. Society for Family Health (SFH)
SFH is South Africa’s leading nonprofit, non-governmental provider of health products, services and communications and South Africa’s leading social marketing organisation. Social marketing is the nonprofit use of commercial marketing techniques to address public health issues. SFH was founded in 1992 as a condom social marketing organisation and since that date has distributed 1 009 300 619 condoms.
Also since that time, SFH has greatly expanded the portfolio of products and services it provides to include male condoms, female condoms, lubricant, HIV counselling and testing, CD4 counts, TB diagnosis and medical male circumcision. All of these programmes are supported by SFH behaviour change communications, marketing and training. SFH is the South African affiliate of Population Services International, the world’s leading network of social marketing organisations, with affiliates in 69 countries around the world.
