Investigating a Sustainable Model for Implementing Community Television in South Africa

The Sol Plaatje Institute for Media Leadership (SPI) at Rhodes University, on behalf of the Department of Communications (DoC), is conducting a research project ‘Investigating a Sustainable Model for Implementing Community Television in South Africa’.
The objectives of the research are:

The objectives of the research are:
- Consider various business models;
- Examine the suitability of the existing licensing framework;
- Determine ways in which the DoC can build investment into the sector;
- Propose a sustainable and viable model for implementing community television.
