The Papillon Foundation, founded in 2002, is doing amazing work in the community improvement fields. Papillon runs several accredited, educational, social outreach projects such as computer end-user training in a partnership with the International Computer Driving License (ICDL). 2 929 needy community members have thus far graduated from the computer courses. 4 219 community members have also graduated from the English language tuition courses that Papillon run in a partnership with University of the Witwatersrand.
Papillon is also very active in the charity field and has thus far distributed 260 tons of donated goods to poor areas across Gauteng. Donated food from a popular TV Food programme is also distributed in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
A computer refurbishment project in a partnership with Microsoft has also delivered some stunning results in that 680 refurbished Pentium 4 computers have thus far been placed at a host of smaller non-governmental organisations and other worthy causes in South Africa and neighbouring countries.
Computers were also placed at several community training centres and at schools for special needs children.
Papillon is currently refurbishing another 390 computers and these will soon be available at huge discounts to any organisations that require modern communicating or training equipment.
SANGONeT, through its SANGOTeCH online technology donation and discount portal, partners in this great project by supplying licensed and discounted software at minimal cost to the organisations that purchase computers from Papillon.
