According to a survey conducted by Global Leaders Africa Summit, African leaders need not conform to western definitions of leadership. More than three-quarters of leaders surveyed believe that African leaders mustn't emulate western models of good leadership.
The development and the empowerment of people is considered the most important leadership competency in African leaders today, the survey results show. This is closely followed by "thinking globally".
The development of a specific and fresh African leadership model will be the central theme of Global Leaders Africa Summit, to be held in Johannesburg, June 20 – 22.
