In a paper entitled, “The Making of a Myth: South Africa’s Neo-Liberal Journey,” Dale T. McKinley explores the gap between the haves and the have nots. His paper argues that despite the general political and economic advances that have been made in South Africa since 1994, reality shows that the fruits of these advances are only fully enjoyed by a small minority.
McKinley carefully considers this myth of a neo-liberal South Africa. He talks to the propagation of this myth and concludes his paper by attempting to expose the myth, thereby forcing people to face the reality of neo-liberalism.
